Founded in 2020 by christian scott and Cecilia Portillo, Mutual is a research and design studio working toward social and cultural impact. Cecilia has since moved on to new adventures; her influence remains part of the studio’s foundation.
Mutual is a flexible studio, bringing together a trusted network of artists, designers, developers, and researchers for each project. We help you create accessible work, define clear direction, and build systems, platforms, and identities that people understand and use.
The desire to create meaningful and lasting social and cultural impact is our driving force. We approach design as a tool that can improve people's lives and the planet's living conditions.

A discovery phase to build trust and understand your needs and expectations, as well as your project’s challenges and possibilities.

Things take shape. We explore, test, and push ideas forward. Expect check-ins, clear feedback, and a process that keeps things moving.
3. Express
Final delivery. Time to put the work into the world and make it count. Ongoing support stays available as things evolve.
